SS Shooting of PoWs, 23 September 1944

On the wall of the Post Office in Brummen, Gelderland, is a tablet recording the shooting, on 23 September 1944, of British prisoners of war being transported to Germany after the battle of Arnhem. Amongst those seriously injured was Anthony Cotterell, whose name is the second one on the tablet. Anthony was later treated by a German doctor at Zutphen, but subsequently disappeared, and his fate is unknown. Others on the list below died at the scene or whilst being treated for their injuries.
